Accuracy and Reliability in Every Measurement

The Sekonic C-4000 Spectrometer uses an advanced spectral sensor that measures light across a wide range of wavelengths with high precision. The device provides a detailed analysis of color temperature (CCT), light spectral distribution, and CRI values (Color Rendering Index) as well as TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index), which is crucial for professional work with cameras or photography. In addition to the standard CRI, which evaluates color fidelity under artificial lighting, the C-4000 also analyzes modern indices such as SSI (Spectral Similarity Index) and TM-30-18, giving you access to the most up-to-date lighting standards.

CIE 1931

CIE 1931 is a color space based on tristimulus values, which are mathematically derived from color measurements. They represent red, blue, and green light and theoretically represent the standard observer's eye. CIE 1931 values are indicated using the x, y coordinates.

CRI Color Rendering Index

The CRI Color Rendering Index measures the ability of a light source to reveal the colors of objects compared to a natural light source, such as the sun. Ra is the average of eight out of fifteen CRI values, providing a general assessment of the light source’s color rendering capability.

Spectrum

The spectrum shows the spectral distribution of the measured light source in a graph with relative or absolute intensity depending on the wavelength. The graph can be displayed, printed, and saved via the SEKONIC LD App.

TM-30-18

TM-30-18 is a color rendering index system published by the IES (Illuminating Engineering Society), which indicates how accurately a light source will reproduce the color of an object (compared to a blackbody radiator, e.g., the sun).

  • Import drawings/photos – Use your smartphone to capture drawings or photos of the site.
  • Record measurement directly on drawing or image – Measured values can be easily placed on the imported image. Optional units for each measured point may include lx, K (Kelvin), uv, Ra, Rf/Rg, x.y.
  • GPS coordinates of measurement site – Measurements can be saved with linked GPS coordinates for easy retrieval or localization on-site. Included along with other important details in the location report.
  • App-ready report – Create PDF or CSV reports in the SEKONIC LD App. Reports include GPS location, site image or captured drawing with values, detailed data in CSV format, and Spectrum, CRI, TM-30-18, and CIE 1931 graphs for each light source.
  • Adding notes/images in real-time – Special lighting situations requiring detailed notes and images can be documented during the measurement process. Images can be taken on-site or linked to stored images.
